Gârcini didactic and research facility
Gârcini didactic and research facility operates under the Faculty of Silviculture and Forest Engineering, and it has a multidisciplinary and multifunctional nature.
This facility offers the optimal conditions to the conduct of the courses and practical works provided for in the education plans for the forestry students, but also for the students of other faculties, as well as to the organization of scientific and research events at university level.
The practical works related to the specialised disciplines take place in all four salmon-culture and cynegetic laboratories set up in 2020, and equipped according to the highest standards of the didactic activity.
Sânpetru didactic and research facility
Sânpetru didactic and research facility is located in the north of Brașov, in the village of Sânpetru, at the foot of Lempeș hill. Within this facility, didactic activities are conducted, which are specific to the academic disciplines of the Faculty of Silviculture and Forest Engineering, especially intensive game breeding, afforestation, dendrology and meteorology, but also of the Faculty of Food and Tourism, considering that an adequately equipped meat processing laboratory was set up there.
This facility also contains a tree nursery for growing both forest and ornamental seedlings, a pheasant farm (incubator and sheds for raising the chickens, two large aviaries for keeping the breeding pheasants and the poult), as well as a shooting range, several meat processing laboratories, the oenology laboratory and the afforestation laboratory.
Mahmudia didactic and research facility
Mahmudia didactic and research facility is the newest facility of Transilvania University of Brașov (acquired in 2024), and it is of high usefulness to the Faculty of Silviculture and Forest Engineering, given its location near the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve and the forest-steppe area in the north of Dobrudja.
Here, the academic teaching personnel can conduct scientific research activities, and the students can complete their practical works. This site offers opportunities to watch sustainable forest management practices and to participate in ecological conservation projects, considering that Mahmudia region has been included in ecological reconstruction projects, with farm fields being turned into wetlands, thus contributing to the restoration of the natural habitats and to the conservation of the Danube Delta-specific biodiversity. This facility is also useful for the activities specific to the Faculty of Physical Education and Mountain Sports.
Moreover, it includes spaces for accommodation, workshops, student symposia, meetings within scientific research projects, and more.
