Department of Forest Engineering, Forest Management Planning and Terrestrial Measurements

The Department of Forest Engineering, Forest Management Planning and Terrestrial Measurements provides the institutional framework for teaching, research and technical expertise limited to the fields of inventory, accessibility, capitalization and conservation of forest resources.

Through the study programmes coordinated by the department at undergraduate, master's and doctoral studies levels, the didactic and research competencies for the following areas are ensured:

  • Timber techniques and technologies
  • Mechanization of wood cultivation and exploitation works
  • Design and construction of forest transport routes
  • Utilization and use of wood and non-wood forest resources
  • Arrangement of torrential river basins
  • Forest constructions
  • Measurement and inventory of trees and stands
  • Terrestrial measurements and spatial planning
  • Management of wood recovery activity
  • Analysis and modeling in capitalizing on forest resources

The infrastructure of the department includes 14 didactic and research laboratories, equipped at up-to-date academic requirements, a xylotheque and a didactic-experimental base for practical applications. The department provides doctoral training in the field of Forestry under the coordination of seven doctoral supervisors.
